Mixing the Perfect Cosmo
Begin by readying your martini glass. Slice a lime and cut a slice in half. Place the half slice of lime and a sprig of fresh mint into the glass.
- Fill the cobbler shaker with 6-8 perfect cubes of ice (about half-full)
- Pour 2 ounces of vodka slowly over the ice
- Pour 2 ounces of cranberry juice cocktail over the ice
- Follow up with 1 ounce of triple sec and 1 ounce of lime juice
The order is important to ensure the ingredients have time to chill to their proper degree.
Now cover the shaker with both lids and shake gently but firmly.
The perfect cosmo is cold, extremely cold. The combination of flavors reaches palate perfection only under these conditions.
Shake, Shake, Shake
Shake until your hands feel like they have a headache; till you can't hold on any more.
This is the point where enough ice water has been added to the mixture, the ingredients have been sufficiently chilled, and the drink has just the right amount of cloudiness — and it's ready to pour.
Had enough? Stop shaking. Remove the lid and pour.
